Bookshop day

Robert took the opportunity of national bookshop day to visit Mrs Lofthouse’s Second Hand Book Emporium on Queen Street in Scarborough on Saturday.  Owner, Daniel Spink, explained how online shopping and Government assistance had helped get the business through the Covid lockdowns.

Robert said, “This small independent business has an amazing selection of books ranging from reasonably priced second hand books to rare first editions and collectable historic tomes.  I would certainly recommend a visit and Daniel is a mine of information, particularly about books with a local connection.”

Robert bought a recently published new book about Scarborough in the Second World War and some second hand children’s books to read to their new grandchild.
